The 4 doors that Peter opened

Peter was washing the nets at the shore of the Sea of Galilee. After a long day of fishing in the sea, having not caught any fish, Peter was winding up his work to get back home. He would have been completely frustrated, upset and depressed – a sense of total failure.

Peter opened the first door – Boat for Christ to step on

As Peter was washing the nets, he saw Jesus and a great crowd thronging Him to hear from Him. Jesus was looking for a place to sit and speak to the people on the shore. That’s when He saw Peter’s empty boat. Jesus straightaway stepped on to it.

Sometimes when we feel empty and hopeless, remember it is the right chance for the Lord to step on to our empty life and make a difference

Do you feel an emptiness within you? Haven’t achieved anything? Years are going by, nothing is happening! Maybe it is the right opportunity for you to open that first door, so that God to enter your empty boat.

Jesus asked Peter to put the boat out a little from the shore so that He could see everyone and preach to them. Peter did so.

Peter opened the second door – Ears for Christ’s words

As Jesus was preaching and teaching the Word of God, Peter also would have listened carefully to Jesus. Since he was feeling hopeless and was in despair, he really longed for some words of comfort and encouragement. That was the right time Jesus opened His mouth and started teaching. Oh! What an encouragement!

Sometimes when we feel hopeless and depressed, remember, it is the time to listen to the Word of God. It will bring back life and refresh your soul

Are you longing for some encouragement? Discouraged? Feeling hopeless?

Maybe this is the right time you can start listening to the Word of God. God is waiting to talk to you.

Open the Bible and read the Word of God, or listen to some encouraging sermons from YouTube. The options in front of you are numerous, make use of it.

Here is a YouTube playlist to start with.

Peter opened the third door – Heart to Obey Christ

When Jesus had finished speaking, he said to Peter, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Peter answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.”

Sometimes when we feel discouraged and unmotivated, the words of God might seem illogical. But just obey. You will see wonders

You know what?

When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

Yes, that’s the result of OBEDIENCE – Success which comes from obeying God!

Whenever you listen to sermons, or read the Bible, read it with an attitude to obey, if you feel that God is asking you to do something, just do it. Don’t evaluate it based on your logic. Remember! God’s logic is completely different from yours. You can trust Him. Just obey without questioning

Peter opened the fourth door – Life to follow Jesus

When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”

Peter acknowledged that he was a sinner and Jesus was Holy. Peter was immediately aware of his unworthiness and state of unholiness. Yes, that’s the true revelation when you encounter God in person.

Sometimes when God helps us out in our weaknesses, we immediately feel that we are totally unworthy of His love and care. Yes, that’s the time to fall at His feet and confess our sins and get back to a loving relationship with the Holy One. He will make us holy thereafter.

Peter began worshipping Jesus. He opened his ultimate door of his life for Jesus. That was the turning point in the life of Peter.

Then Jesus said to Peter, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

This one incident in his life brought great peace and a sense of direction in his life. Jesus gave a new direction and assignment to Peter – “A call to fish people”

He acknowledged the call of Jesus and that day He became a disciple of Jesus Christ. Then he started his journey with Christ and his life was never the same.
