Today, just after preaching the Word in a meeting, few people came to me for prayer. Most of them were elderly people and I really felt sorry for them as I listened to their problems.
Brother, please pray for me. I am a widow and I have only one child. I have 1.5 cents of land, and my neighbour is fighting me for that land, and they are doing lot of harm to me.
I have two daughters. Since we are poor, no one is willing to marry my elder daughter. Please pray that she will get a good job, so that my daughter’s marriage will happen
Pray for my son. After an accident, his nerve got damaged, and he is mentally not stable. Somehow he drives auto-riksha earns his living.
Please pray for my two children. One is an engineer and another is a doctor, but they are after the world, and not interested in spiritual things. Please pray that they may turn to the Lord.
My husband is a drunkard. My children are grown up but they still fight among each other. There is no peace at home. Please pray for me.
and so on..
The time was already 1:45 pm. I had to reach office soon, as I was on a half day leave. But these people kept on telling their problems, some were even crying. They really wished if someone hear their problems.
Immediately I remembered how Jesus was patient enough with all the people, to listen to their stories and had mercy on them and heal all their diseases.
Jesus returned to the Sea of Galilee and climbed a hill and sat down. A vast crowd brought to him people who were lame, blind, crippled, those who couldn’t speak, and many others. They laid them before Jesus, and he healed them all. The crowd was amazed! Those who hadn’t been able to speak were talking, the crippled were made well, the lame were walking, and the blind could see again! And they praised the God of Israel. (Matt 15: 29-31)
I told myself, I need to learn to be more patient and feel burden for the suffering people, just like Jesus.
I continued listening to their problems and prayed for each of them, one by one. I was bit sweating because of the heat of the noon time, and was bit tired because of the long preaching, yet God gave me grace to minister to them by praying for each of them.
While praying for some difficult problems, I doubted a little in my mind, whether the Lord will hear my prayer and help them in their situation.
But as I prayed for this particular lady, suddenly I saw a vision of an angel standing besides me, and writing down the prayer points in a notepad. I was really encouraged by seeing this vision, and I could pray more earnestly, knowing that each and every word of the prayer was being recorded.
I also heard the voice in the vision, “Whatever you are praying for, I am writing it down. Go ahead”
I felt the presence of God, as I saw this vision, and a great hope filled my heart knowing that the prayers will be answered. I started to feel refreshed in my spirit and body. I knew that I was doing something precious in the sight of God.
At that instant itself, I learned a beautiful lesson.
What should we be thinking in our mind, when we pray for others?
Maybe we will not be able to do anything to help the person who is suffering. But as we pray, we need to understand that we are talking to the Most High God Almighty who is able to do something for them. Nothing is impossible for God. So we should never limit our prayer by looking at the circumstances, instead we need to pray with great burden, faith, hope and trust in God. He will do the difficult part of answering the prayer. Let us continue doing the little part of praying with faith
This simple revelation brought great change of perception in me. All these happened as I prayed for this lady.
Now dear friends,
Let me encourage you, to pray for others. No matter what situation they might be in, even though it might seem hopeless in your eyes, remember, it is not hopeless in the eyes of God. He is still Almighty. All you need to do is to pray with faith, without having any doubt in your mind. Your prayers are being recorded.
Let us remember this great promise of Jesus
And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. (Mark 16: 17, 18)
