5 Things God Wants You To Do In Difficult Times

When we are in a difficult situation, we may lose hope, give up or become frustrated, angry, depressed or upset. It is human to feel that way, but as a child of God, God expects us to be different from how other people behave. We are the children of God, and hence we have the seed of greatness inside of us. We have the power to overcome any situation through Jesus Christ. Therefore, let us not allow mere human circumstances to pull us down.

Here are 5 things God wants you to do in your difficult situation.

God wants you to KNOW something

When situations are becoming difficult, God wants us to know something very important. Let me show you some important Bible verses. It is good to byheart these verses which will come to your aid in difficult times.

And we KNOW that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

God wants you to KNOW that all your difficult situations are going to turn for good in the end. Believe it and you are going to wait and see how God is going to cause all things to work together for the good.

God wants you to SAY something

When we are in difficult situations, we naturally may say all sorts of unwanted or hurtful things. We start to murmur, complain, blame and the list goes on.

Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish and sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting or becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness [to God]. Ephesians 5:4

God wants you to say only one thing: THANK YOU GOD! It might look extremely difficult to thank God in your difficult situation, but when you KNOW that God is going to cause your present situation to be for good, naturally words of thanksgiving fills your heart and mind.

God wants you to DO something

When we are in a difficult situation, we may feel like doing something negative to overcome the situation or teach a lesson to those who caused trouble to us. But as a child of God, God wants you to do something different. Here are the 4 things you MUST do: Love, Bless, Do Good, Pray

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; Matt 5: 44, 45

Love them that hate you. Bless them that say all sort of hurtful things against you. Intentionally do good to them that hurts you. Most importantly pray for them, which is the game changer! God will act.

God wants you to THINK something

All sorts of negative emotions and thoughts may flood our minds. We need to be very careful with our thought process because Satan plays with our minds. If he can gain a foothold in our minds, he can make us do anything he wishes to. Therefore let us not give a place for evil thoughts in our minds.

What is God expecting us to think in difficult times?

For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honourable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, THINK ON and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

Intentionally fill your minds with godly thoughts! Keep on thinking good things. This will change you from the inside out! You are going to explode with God’s love instead of satan’s hatred.

God wants you to BE something

Finally, God wants you to come out with flying colours. Every difficult situation is a TEST. God allows tests in our life so that we may pass the test.

God might be testing your patience. Prove that you are patient and God will be proud of you.

God might be testing your love. Love unconditionally so that God will say about you, “He is truly my son!”.

When He tests your ability to keep your mouth shut without saying hurtful words, keep going, and come out successfully without saying anything evil but only thanksgiving and praises. God will become so proud of you.

God expects you to become like Jesus Christ! That’s exactly where He is taking you. You know Jesus Christ had to go through challenging situations, hatred from his own brothers, community and religious leaders. But Jesus Christ never said anything hurtful nor did he explode in anger. Jesus Christ suffered patiently till the end. Even when He was crucified, Jesus prayed for those who hurt him, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23: 34)

In other words, God wants you to BE PERFECT!

You, therefore, must be perfect [growing into complete maturity of godliness in mind and character, having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity], as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5: 48

Let us pray

Father, we know that You cause all things to work together for our good. We take a decision today to speak only good things. We decide to love, bless, do good and pray for those who hurt us. Lord, we know that you allow all situations for us to grow in Christ. Thank you, Jesus. Give us the grace to come up to Your expectations. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
