You are worth more! Here's why!
On the road to salvation, we all come across quite a handful of experiences that could be influenced by our past or present selves, depending on which we earned some labels. Sometimes the experiences we face have got entirely nothing to do with us, it could even be other factors surrounding us.
We are all familiar with the above mentioned biblical characters, why, and how they earned these labels. many of us may have got some labels ourselves.
What would you do amidst such labels?
Anger, frustration, humiliation, inferiority complex, bargaining, sorrow, depression, anxiety, fear, you name them. Sure, we are humans and these feelings are expected when faced with such circumstances.
Now, a better question would be what would Jesus do?
Let’s keep in mind he was accused of Blasphemy, stirring up riots, influenced by Beelzebul the prince of demons, misleading people, and even called a liar.
His response
- Never a reaction, but always a careful response (there’s a difference you see) (Luke 15:14-17)
- Relied heavily on his father for wisdom to respond to the situations (thanks to the unbreakable loyalty he had to his father in heaven) (Mark 12:17)
- Didn’t stop himself from being proactive in ministry (Luke 4:28-31)
- Not affected by labels as He lived as one who is not of this world (John 18:36)
- Focussed on the purpose of his existence (John 5:17)
- Knew his father’s will (John 6:38)
- Prioritized his father’s will above all else (John 8:29)
- Meanwhile, he maintained a life that was blameless (John 8:46)
- He expected such labels, he also warned his followers of such obstacles (Matt 5:12, John 15:18)
There was a bigger reason that none of these labels stuck with him, he had a full understanding of his true identity.
Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” Matt 3:17
Therefore dear brothers and sisters, hold on to the identity He has given us rejecting what the world imposes on us. There is no one who can stand in our way other than our own selves.
Now if you are ready to let go of those labels, and accept the identity God has given you, HERE IT IS….
